THE LEASH
Jane
Purcell Dashow
Jane has been in radio longer than she should admit. Perhaps
we should list it in dog years so you can’t figure
it out so easily. Seriously, Jane started out in radio
when she was a teenager and has worked a ton of different
formats. She has been through many zip codes in her radio
travels but came home to New York in the late 90’s
to work at the station she grew up listening to….they
changed format two years later. Timing is everything.
So, Jazzzdog was truly born out of thin air….or
after a Hurricane at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in
2002. Jane
is also an actress but Brak has consistently gotten better
bookings in TV and film (and that ISN’T a joke).
She’s in therapy about the last bit.
Cindy
Budd
Cindy is a longtime record promoter who dealt with the
good, the bad and the ugly…otherwise known as rock
artists. Eventually Cindy wanted more…more variety
in musical styles that is and something that would give
her “claaassss.” So, Cindy was misguided enough
to ask her friend Jane, “Do you need any help?”
in September of 2003. Jane said yes and Cindy has been
the sunshine in Jazzzdog’s pocket for years now.
The girls are old friends and share a love of music, radio’s
potential and dogs. Ella, her pup, assists Cindy at her
LA office. Ella is not an actor like Brak but is fielding
offers from agents in West Hollywood. Cindy wanted you
to know that she has three cats but has not become a crazy
old cat woman (yet).
Brak
Brak, the official Jazzzdog mascot, is the inspiration
of the name of the company. He is more of a song and dance
man but doesn’t shy away from be bop and swing.
Brak prefers trips to the dog run to watching mamma set
up a national interview schedule but he is a very patient
pooch. And Brak is the only dog we have ever known who
knows he has to be quiet when the “on air”
light is on.
